In home archery training

A few simple items can create an exercise unit in your home or garage to help strengthen your bow draw and keep you practicing all year.

A pully attached to the wall at draw height, a lawn mower pull cord and a weight create an easy to use archery exercise. You’ll easily be able to switch out the weight depending on your need. You can use a heavier weight to build your strength or use a lighter weight to tone.

While the design is specific to using those muscle groups required to pull your bow; deltoids, triceps, trapezius, rhomboid and latissimus dorsi, it does not mean you can’t create your own exercises to include other muscle groups. You can add a larger handle if you’d like to exercise both arms with curls and such.

My need was simple: a setup in the basement to build my strength without fear of dry firing my bow or having to hoof it to the back forty in the rain.

Along with this for strength training, I purchased an Accubow. While it definitely isn’t the same as using your bow, it’s a great tool for working on stability. A laser light can be included, depending what option you choose to purchase, as well as a paper target. I tape the target to my wall, go to the end of the hallway and work on holding the laser steady in the target at full draw. With Accubow there is no let off so the steady tension definitely helps build muscle control. Accubow also has a fun interactive feature that you can checkout at https:/accubow.com/. That’s a free referral but you can always mention who sent you! 😉
