What the..??

We were a few days in to our archery elk hunting week and had just woke and started coffee. I dressed and grabbed a cup of coffee and headed outside to give Kim a little more room to get ready. I stepped out and stood on the top step of the trailer with my coffee and gazed at the intense stars above.

It was about 4:15 a.m. and the sky was brilliant with lights. I remember camping as a kid and I know for certain there weren’t half as many stars as there are now. The skies are full of space garbage and satellites that seem to clutter the skies.

I caught sight of a moving light to my left halfway up from the horizon and thought it was a plane. It didn’t have any colored lights with it though, it was just moving like a satellite. But then my gaze caught another one behind it, about an inch in relative distance, directly behind it parallel with the horizon. My eyes move to behind it and there’s another one, and behind it another one, and behind it another one! I couldn’t grasp it! There was a long string of lights, equal distance apart moving in a straight line from the right to the left side of the sky! Not from the edge of the sky to the edge, but out of nothing. They appeared, traveled across the sky and disappeared as if moving along the edge of a curved object, but the other stars were not blocked out by any object. And it wasn’t as if there was an end, the lights just seemed to keep appearing.

As you would see in a horror movie, my eyes never left the light as I reached around, scrambling for the door handle. ‘Kim, get out here! You have got to see this!” He came out on the step and I told him to look to the left and find the moving light. He found it and then I said “follow it to the right”. There was silence for a second and then he said ‘what the hell?’ There were other words involved as he really looked at what he was seeing.

We tried to rationalize the movement of the lights as we saw them and tried to figure out what they could be and why they could be moving the way they are. There was no rational explanation. From the middle of the sky to the right they appeared. They traveled across the sky in a straight line and disappeared into nothing on the left side of the sky. As if they were going around something that we could not see. Unreal. Neither of us have ever seen anything like it, ever.

We talked about the lights the rest of the week and often found ourselves gazing up at the night sky trying to see them again to make sense of them. We didn’t see them again and when we got back to work after the week, it was one of the first things we both talked about. Well, Kim told a co-worker what he had seen and the guy said “Oh, yeah! It’s that new train of satellites that SpaceX put up in the sky!”

Kim called me at work and I said there was no way it was a string of satellites, as I’m typing it in to good ol’ Google. Wouldn’t you know it, up pops a bunch of pictures of just what we saw. Never did I think it was something man made. Guess I have watched too many UFO shows to think it was anything but extra-terrestrial.

Like I said in the beginning; there is simply too much garbage and too many satellites in space!
